He was predeceased by: his parents, Olin Goerdel and Virginia L. Goerdel (Cox); his grandfathers, Henry Clayton Cox and Louie Samuel Goerdel; his wife Florene Goerdel; his daughter Clarissa Goerdel Hardin; his brothers, Troy Allen Goerdel and Larry Samuel Goerdel; and his siblings-in-law, Melvin Pax, Joe Cooley, Lorena Schwartz (Melvin), Victor Limmer and Norman "Sonny" Wagner (Wanda).
He is survived by: his children, Debra Weathers of Keene, Clayton "C. L." Goerdel Jr. (Beth) of Justin, Darryl Goerdel of Brownwood and Laura Rodgers (Kevin) of Brownwood; his grandchildren, Jennifer Cox (Chris) of Cleburne, James Weathers of Corsicana, Ashley Ellis of Brownwood, Natasha Pate (Jody) of Brownwood, Rebecca Goerdel, Rachel Carlisle of Brownwood, Stephanie Goerdel (Kerstein King) of Zephyr, Cameron Maxwell of Killeen, Ethan Goerdel of Aubrey, Kensey Scheaffer (Austin) of Gilmer and Jacey Sweet (Ranson) of Seguin; his sisters, Shirley Burt (Bill), Julia Ann Pax and Jane Cooley; and his siblings-in-law, Rubert Wagner (Lana) of Early and Elnora Limmer. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church (1401 First St. Brownwood, Texas 76801) or St. John's Cemetery in Priddy.
