He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex McDowell and Gertrude McDowell (Moore); and his siblings, Evva McDowell Sr. (Erma), Ernest T. McDowell (Florence), George McDowell (Gladys), L. H. McDowell (Norma), Alex McDowell Jr., Willie L. McDowell (Daisy), Yvonne Williams, Louise Cochran (Jack), Mae Ollie Davis (Arthur) and Aline Shepard.
He is survived by: his spouse Willie Roberson (Vivian); his children, Sreyath Carter-McDowell, Clarence (Tiffany), Tanya and Marcus (Miranda); and his sister Helen Washington. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
