He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Cortez and Adela Flores; his son Eliseo Cortez; and his brothers, Victor Cortez Jr., Perfecto Cortez and Mario Cortez.

He is survived by: his wife Angelica T. Cortez; his children, Olga Cortez of Acosta, Malena Cortez of Forbes, Oscar Cortez Torres, Deborah Cortez Torres and Valentin Cortez Torres; his grandchildren, Michael Forbes Jr., Paul Forbes, Martin Garcia Cortes, Andres Garcia Cortes, Valeria Calderon Cortez, Alejandro Cortes Pena, Moises Cortes Pena, Gabriel Cortes Pena, Estefany Cortes Ipina and Oscar Cortes Ipina; and his sister Sara Cortes of Guzman.
