He was predeceased by: his father David Z. Barrera; his grandparents, Isidoro, Sara Rodriguez, Anastacio and Rosita Barrera; and his aunts, Guadalupe Palomino and Noemi Gracia.
He is survived by: his mother Isabel Rodriguez; and his siblings, Marco Antonio Barrera and Selma Jo Tragaz. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral. A rosary was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home (657 Springmart Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78526). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral. A burial was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens (4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78526).
