He was predeceased by: his father Manuel Vela, Sr.; and his sister Diana Marie Luna. He is survived by: his mother Sylvia Villarreal Vela (Villarreal); his brother Danny Vela (Genena) of Brownfield; his niece Kristen Wylie (Zachary) of Lubbock; and his nephews, Bryan Vela (Samantha) of Lubbock, Derrick Vela of Lubbock, Mark Vela (Crystal) of Seagraves, Jonathan Vela (Tori) of Zwolle, LA and Jaime Vela of Lubbock.
