He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Perez Sr. and Enriquetta Rivera Perez; his son Edward James Perez; and his siblings, Guadalupe Villarreal and Victor Perez.
He is survived by: his former wife Francisca Rios; his wife Frances Perez; his children, Jacob Perez, Nick Perez, Becky Garza (Fred), Diana Contreras (Victor), Peggy Aguero (Henry), Manuel Perez Jr. and Roland Perez (Liz); and his stepchildren, Criselda Garza, Marivelle Garza and Estrella Rodriguez. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
