She was predeceased by: her parents, Waldemar Noak and Etta Noak; her husband Elo Mertz; and her son David Mertz. She is survived by: her children, Welton Mertz, Jimmie Mertz (Sue), Glenn Mertz, Darrell Mertz, Mark Mertz (Theresa), Karen Dittfurth (Steven), Melissa Baginski (Mike) and Loretta Mertz. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 sister.

Memorials may be directed to St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas.
