He was predeceased by: his parents, Reinhold Richard and Dellie Mae Haevischer Herrmann; his grandparents, Fritz, Wela Haevischer, Amelia and Henry Herrmann; his father-in-law Willie E. Mertz; and his sister-in-law Carol Mertz Leitzel.
He is survived by: the mother of his children Darlene "Dottie" Mertz Herrmann; his children, Cristi (Billy Nelson) of Alvin and Ashlea Herrmann of Brenham; his granddaughters, Leah, Raney and Brooklyn Nelson; his sisters, Debra Mertz (Mary Steele) of Holland, MI and Arin Herzog (Harvey) of Brenham; his mother-in-law Vernell Schilling Mertz; and his brother-in-law Dale Mertz (Penny) of Kenney. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.
