He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Abel and Birdie Abel (Mettke); his siblings, Robert Abel and Shery Abel; and his siblings-in-law, Pat Abel and Arnold Havemann.
He is survived by: his children, Scott Abel (Melinda) of Cy Fair and Allison Abel of Brenham; his grandchildren, Donovan Abel, Jake Righetti, Scottie Abel, Nicole Abel, Amanda Lemus, Kelsey McKenna and Kaylor Steele; his sister Gloria Havemann; his sister-in-law Sheila Abel; his nieces and nephews, Mark, Lynn Boeker, Audra, Ted Kemper, Charles, Barbara Havemann, Tracy Semmler, Grady, Amy Wilhite, Adam Abel and Chuck Counard; his daughter Shannon Steele; and his significant other Schnauzer. He is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews and friends.
