He was predeceased by: his parents, John Burney and Juanita Crabtree Burney; and his son Trevor Burney. He is survived by: his children, Brittani Tucker (Matthew) of Breckenridge, Sandi Pilgrim (Cody) of Brownfield and Jeremy Foster; his brothers, Gary Burney (Paula) of Graford and Ed Burney (Alexis) of Eastland; and his grandsons, Dakota French (Sherry) and Connor Tucker. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
