He was predeceased by: his parents, Celestino Rivera and Elvira Rivera (Cadena); his wife Julia Gonzales; his siblings, Roberto, Celestino, Jr., Alicia Gonzalez and Adela Flores; and his brother-in-law Mike Ortega.
He is survived by: his close friend Theresa Helmick of Brady, TX; his children, Adriana Rivera and Alex Rivera (Petra) of Brady, TX; his siblings, Ramiro Rivera (Gloria) of Weatherford, TX, Mayo Rivera (Lupe) of Childress, TX, Mary Ortega of Corpus Christi, TX, Minerva Chadis of Brady, TX and Celia Alfaro (Lazarus) of Anson, TX; his grandchildren, Alesia Evans, Israel Reyes and Crystal Rivera; and his great grandchildren, Izabella, Isiah, Alexander and Tristan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions in memory of Gilberto "Gil" Rivera may be made to the Brady Memorial Scholarship Fund at the high school.
