He was predeceased by: his parents, William Carwell and Mary Lee Fain (Langford); and his sister Sue Whitaker. He is survived by: his brother Welding; his children, Samuel Dow Fain, Jr. of Paradise, William Clifton Fain of Paradise, Diana Grimsley and Kathlena Vardas of Chico; and his grandchildren, Jorja, Ryan, Reba, Shelby, Adam, Shaya and Benisio. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
