With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elba Ruth Vassar (Borger, Texas), born in Yale, Oklahoma, who passed away on March 20, 2018 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Runt; her siblings, Orville Simpson, Frank Simpson, Sharon Simpson and Marie Simpson Lydon; and also Vassar.
She is survived by: her parents, Howard Simpson and Ruth Haskell Simpson; her daughters, Debbie Young and Clesta Collins; her grandchildren, Leighann Shelton, Whitney Shelton (Shakeitha) of Utah, Valerie Hart (Jeff), Zach Collins (Tiffany) of Borger, Adam Young (Maria), Joseph Young (Briana) of Colorado, Amanda Davis (Jack), Jacob Young (Michelle), Aaron Young and Jeanette Young of Utah; her siblings, Bud Simpson, Billie Jo Olive and NellAnna Lehman; and her sisters-in-law, Rita Simpson and Lou McCoy. She is also survived by her father and mother.
The last big writing project she did before Alzheimer's began to rob her of her favorite joys in life, was write a family cook book with all our favorite recipes in it.
