He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lenard Ellison and Vassie Ivy Ellison; his wife Ollie Faye; and his children, Cora Yvonne, Vassie Deloris (Jerome Smith), Tony Lenard, Rodney Earl (Maria Ellison) and Kenneth Ray (Becky Ellison). He was also cherished by 14 grandchildren and more than 30 great-grandchildren.
