He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Standlee and Lillie Holmes (Burnett); his son Patrick Holmes; and his sisters, Miki Holmes and Joan Flynt.

He is survived by: his wife Bettye Holmes; and his children, John Holmes, Scott Holmes (Sherry), Amy Holmes and Beth Alonzo (Chris). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Boys Town or Alzheimer's Association.
