He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Helmith Otto Ponath and Thelma Jewell Allen; his stepfather Floyd Dinwiddie; his wife Mary Merle Franklin; his children, Paul and Celia; his siblings, Frank, Bill and Ann; his sons-in-law, Aaron and Eugene; his grandchildren, Amanda and Christopher; and his great grandchild Charlotte. He was also cherished by his two children, two grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
