He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Monroe and Sarah Isabel Glick Carter; his wife Teresa Palmer; and his brother Henry Carter. He is survived by: his children, Michelle Carter of Boling, Lynn Fuentes (Augustine "Gus") of Boling, Michael Carter (Barbara) of Huntsville and Doyle Carter (Sheila) of Baton Rouge; and his grandchildren, Lauren Garza, Casey Garza, Amadeus Fuentes, Gus Fuentes, Marie Fuentes, Mathew Carter, Thomas Carter, Ryan Carter and Anthony Carter. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
