We bid farewell to Donald Dermit Hansen of Boerne, Texas, born in South River, New Jersey, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on January 23, 2025 at the age of 96. Donald Dermit touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Rudolph Hansen (Frank) and Edna Mae Hansen (Lane). He is survived by: his former wife Ruth Marion Zoch; his daughters, Carla Jeanne Godsey (Wade Godsey), Karen Marie Hansen, Martha Hansen Behrend (James Behrend) and Amy Frances Hansen (Robert Steinhagen); the mother of his children Ruth McFarland; his stepchildren, James David Jones (Eva Marie Jones) and Barbara Sue Jones; his wife Susie Hansen; and his sisters, Mae and Elaine. He is also survived by four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home (1265 N Main St, Boerne, TX 78006). He wrote a 700-page autobiography, My Long Haul, during the Covid-19 pandemic, which captured family history as well as many of his interests, life experiences, and travels.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. John Lutheran School affiliated with St. John Lutheran Church in Boerne, Texas.
