He was predeceased by: his parents, William Bowers and Mobe Bowers; his brothers, James Bowers and Douglas Bowers; and his daughter Vanita Bowers-Bates.
He is survived by: his spouse Susan Gail Burgess; his brother Doug; his wife Gail Bowers of Blue Ridge; his son Bill Bowers (Patsy) of Rowlett; and his stepchildren, Richard Van Dyke of Blue Ridge, Susan Shelton Farmer (Eddie) of Durant, Joel Shelton (Vickie) of Seguin, Brian Van Dyke (Vivian) of Kaufman, Karen Riley (Steve Riley) of Van Alstyne and Elizabeth Shelton Abounada (Abe) of Trenton. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
