He was predeceased by: his parents, Truman Carter and Clever Corley Carter; his son Gregory Carter; his brother W. T. Carter; and his siblings-in-law, Ralph Morgan and Louise Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Carter; his sons, Timothy Carter and Anthony Carter; his siblings, Kenneth Carter, Devon Carter, Cois Carter, Shirley Morgan, Sandra Ivy, Nell Carter, Mary Carter and Judy Carter; his daughter-in-law LaVonda Carter; and his grandchildren, Opal Carter, Alyssa Carter, Faith Ryan Carter and Samuel Carter.
