He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth Simmons; and his brother Austin Simmons, Jr.. He is survived by: his daughters, Angela Simmons-Boggs, Michelle Simmons and Crystal Simmons; his grandchildren, Justin, Madison, Sierra, Jylnn and Charisma; and his siblings, Virginia, Charlotte, Carol, Debbie, Angie, Bobbie, Opal and Billy. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.
