It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jewell Matthews of Big Spring, Texas, born in Mount Olive, Mississippi, who passed away on April 20, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Katie Lofton and Johnny Lofton; her husband Charles Matthews; her sons, Kenny Matthews and Charles Lee Matthews; and her great grandchild Aiden Matthews.
She is survived by: her daughters, Katherine Reyes of Big Spring and Katrina Shultze (Eric) of Kernersville, NC; her siblings, Johnny Lofton (Betty) of Columbus, MS, Cecil Lofton (Judy) of Columbus, MS, Rodney Lofton (Sandy) of Brandon, MS, Evelyn Miley (Ronnie) of Cheyenne, WY, Nancy Foreman of Columbus, MS and Peggy Garrison (Tim) of Gulfshores, AL; and her grandchildren, Amanda Ruth, Kendra Smith, Kevin Matthews, Amber Davis, Rory Wheeler, Brandon Matthews, Kadisha Robinson and Kelsey Robinson. She is also survived by five great grandchildren.
