He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Hightower Shanks and Grover Shanks; and his grandson Michael Don Shanks. He is survived by: his grandsons, JP Shanks, Jimmy Shanks Jr., Daniel Clark and Clark Fields; his wife Dorothy Edna Christian; his children, Donnie Shanks (Sharon), Larry Shanks (Sheila), Jimmy Shanks, Sr. (Sandy) and Shirley Murphy (Kevin); his grandchildren, JP Wade Shanks (Angela), Jimmy Shanks, Jr., Timothy Shanks (Cecilia), Dusty Shanks, Lance Murphy (Amber), Dr. Melissa Fields (Clark), LaTisha Shanks and Mandy Clark (Daniel); and his brother Charlie Shanks. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wade had coffee time with his friends at McDonald's until COVID and then settled for going to Shirley's everyday like clockwork.
