He was predeceased by: his parents, Garland Gilbert and Charlotte Gilbert (Heffington); his siblings, Irene Sinsel, Clara Ritchey, James "Jimmy" Gilbert, Alvin Gilbert and Grady Gilbert; and his daughter Sheila Gilbert.
He is survived by: his sister Bonnie Kinard of Merkel; his children, Amy Gilbert of Big Spring and Kevin Gilbert (Debbie Gilbert) of Colorado City; and his grandchildren, Keveen Arguello (Chris) of Colorado City, Rikki Roberts (Casey) of Colorado City, Kali Gilbert of Colorado City, Jalin Gilbert (Mara) of Big Spring, Brianna Gilbert of Big Spring and Gavin Carpenter of Big Spring. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and 10 great grandchildren.
