He was predeceased by: his parents, Blondell Wilson Hughes and Benjamin Franklin Hughes, Sr.; and his siblings, Delores Hughes Slay, Beatrice Hughes Downing Moye and Wayne Hughes.
He is survived by: his spouse Mary Ellen George Hughes; his children, Randall Hughes (Karen), Carlos Hughes (Karen), Eric Hughes (Rachal), Melanie Hughes Williams and Julie Cherie Calice (John); his grandchildren, Scott Hughes (Erica), Amber Hughes Landry (Shane), Lauren Hughes Sartin (Justin) and Amanda Jones (Jeffrey); his great grandchildren, Kenadie Brownlee, Eva Landry, Colt Landry, Jackson Sartin, Sophie Sartin, Seth Hughes, Jensen Rutledge, Kason Rutledge and Julian Jones; and his siblings, Yvonne Hughes Hall (Wayne), Delma Hughes Eaves (Robert) and Wilson Hughes (Nelda). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
