He is survived by: his sons-in-law, Juan and Jay; his wife Hilma Espinoza Cantu; his children, Marcos Jerome Cantu, Jennika Cantu (Jay Rubio), Angelica Ibanez (Juan) of Alice Texas, Valentin Cantu Jr. and Julissa Cantu; his godchildren, Alec Andrew Pena of Lufkin Texas and Emmaleah Pena of Lufkin Texas; his godmother Englantina Casas of Benavides Texas; his pet Chabito; his caregiver Jacklyn Gonzalez; and his siblings, Oscar Cantu Sr. (Velma) of Benavides Texas, Vidal Cantu Jr. (Janie) of Benavides Texas, Dolores Perez (Luis) of Benavides Texas, Ernestina Gonzalez (Noe), Dalia Elizondo (Amando) of Benavides Texas and Raquel Vasquez (Rumaldo). He is also survived by ten grandchildren.
