He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sampson Barton and Louisa Allen Barton; and his siblings, Lee, Frank (Oliver George) of Edward, O. G., Elmo, Oscar, Emma Barton and Thelma Caballero.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. John Sampson "Sammy" Barton, III (Stacy Murphy), Dr. Jeffrey S. Barton (Nannette Rudolph), Annick M. Barton (Dan Steinborn), Jordana Barton-Garcia, Camille M. Barton (Jeremy Escobar) and Catherine Rose Barton (John Michael Guenzel); his grandchildren, Lariss Maldonado, Caroline Barton Lang, Jeffrey Barton, Jr., Joseph Barton, Luisa Barton Lacy and John Caellum Guenzel; and his great grandchildren, Haven Marie Lang, Petra Nuria Maldonado, Leonel Joaquin Maldonado and Joseph Laurence Barton, Jr.. He is also survived by six children, extended family.
