He was predeceased by: his wife Rafaela Quinones Chavez; his children, Frances Chavez Colecio and Felipe Chavez; his parents, Francisco Chavez and Francisca Garcia Chavez; and his siblings, Paulina Garcia Chavez and Enrique Chavez.
He is survived by: his children, Enrique Q. Chavez (Sarah) of Benavides, Texas, Brunelda Chavez Avila of Corpus Christi, Texas and Sylvia Chavez of Benavides, Texas; and his grandchildren, Robert Avila, Christina Avila, Claricia Gonzalez (Carlos), Felipe Chavez (Irenia), Annette Chavez, Lori Ann Villarreal (Hector), Angel Bowen (Jessica), Roman Bowen (Nola), Sergio Bowen (Samantha) and Oscar Colecio (Rosalie). He is also survived by 34 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren.
