He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Esparza and Maria Luisa Esparza; his daughter Robin Athanas; and his siblings, Beto, Luis, Romeo, Nicho, Elfego, Oberlin, Raul, Carlos, Celeste, Guillermina, Maria Luisa and Anita.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Esparza; his children, Ralph (Orkhon Esparza Jr.), R. C. (Jane Alexandra Esparza), Rod (Chrisina Esparza), Ronnie Esparza, Rhonda (John Ferrone) and Tom Athanas; his grandchildren, Alex, Traci and Dylan Athanas; his children, Tyler Esparza-Powell, Alexandra, Christian Ferrone, Christopher and Layla Esparza; and his close friends, Kika, Angus and Hamish.
