He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Johnson and Edna Mae Battles; and his siblings, Billy Hamilton, Bobby Hamilton, Brenda Medford and Janath Medford.

He is survived by: his wife Lamanda Hammonds of Belton; and his sons, Stephen Hammonds of Temple, David Hammonds of Albuquerque, NM, Rex Hammonds of Belton and Lon Hammonds of Temple. He is also survived by his fourteen grandchildren; and his four great-grandchildren.
