He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgel Smith and Myrtis Smith (Townsend); his wife Marlene; and his siblings, Billy Joe, Jimmy Ray Smith and Maudine Pate.
He is survived by: his children, Earl Smith Jr. (Judy) of Little River and Felita Wheeler (John) of Belton; his siblings, Virgel Smith (Casey) of Belton, Two, Robbie Langford of Burnet and Vickie Kieltyka of Gatesville; his grandchildren, Bonnie Smith of Honolulu Hawaii, Byron Wheeler (Kristen) of Castle Rock and Bradley Wheeler of Parker Colorado; and his great grandchildren, Abby and Josh Wheeler of Colorado.
