He was predeceased by: his wife Laura Mae Estes; and his parents, Albert Estes and Leola Estes. He is survived by: his children, Albert D. Estes, Lee E. Estes and Laura Lee Massie; his half-sister Shirley Lee Splawn; his daughter Linda Ann King Estes; and his siblings, Arlie D. Estes, Jimmy Wheeler, Sharon Bradford, Eva Faye Dyson and Maura Kay Pierce. He is also survived by four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
