He was predeceased by: his parents, Ottis "Sonny" Murphree and Elsie Murphree (Wilkins). He is survived by: his wife Brenda Murphree; his children, Tishia Crump (Michael) and Pat E. Murphree (Marielle); his grandchildren, Malaney Fretwell (Brad), Taylor Crump, Katie Moore, Layne Murphree (Michelle Sacco) and Dalton Moore (Aliah); his great grandchildren, Hayes and Wyatt Fretwell; and his brothers, Steve Murphree (Linda), Mike Murphree and Tim Murphree.
