She was predeceased by: her parents, Virlon Shaffer (Lazenby) and Birl Shaffer; her husband Bill Melvin (Bill); her son John Melvin; and her daughter-in-law Shari Woodard Melvin.
She is survived by: her children, William (David), David Melvin and Susan Lawrence; her children-in-law, Jeff Lawrence and Janna Melvin; her grandchildren, Zachary Lawrence, Sydney Lawrence, Joshua Melvin, Jayla Melvin and Winter J. Woodard; her brother David Shaffer; her sister-in-law Jeanne Shaffer; and her niece Stephanie Richardson.
