He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose G. and Anita Tapia, Jr. (Garcia); and his brothers, Robert Tapia and Jose G. Tapia (Joe). He is survived by: his brother Eloy Tapia (Belinda) of Beeville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
