He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter A. Boenig and Ellen Mae Boenig (Tuttle); his siblings, Durwood C. Boenig, Ord Gary Boenig, Vera Mae Curd (Boenig) and Juanita Grace Shanks (Boenig); his daughter Patricia Gaye Owens (Boenig); and his granddaughter Tracie Jean Swendsen.
He is survived by: his wife Nellie Boenig (Park) of Beeville; his children, Jerome Boenig of Beeville, Cy Diane Boenig Swendsen (Gordon) of Gatesville and Melissa Kaye Jansen (Jene) of Eddy; his stepchildren, Michael Carpenter of Beeville and Elizabeth C. Fojtik (Michael) of Berclair; and his siblings, Walter Boenig of Las Vegas, Nevada and LaNelle Malone of Tow, Texas.. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
