He was predeceased by: his wife Adela Alaniz; his parents, Lucas Alaniz and Paula Alaniz; and his children, Richard and Mary Alaniz.

He is survived by: his son Benito Jr.; his sisters, Franscia Gonzalez, Beatrice Rios and Cleotilde Valdez; and his grandchildren, Benita, Casandra, Samantha, Chelsie and Dillion Alaniz. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
