He was predeceased by: his parents, Anastacio Chavarria and Pilar Chavarria (Garcia); his wife Aurora Elizalde Chavarria; his daughters, Martha Ann Chavarria and Sarah Chavarria; and his siblings, Anastacio "Chore", Amalio, Oscar Chavarria, Elvira Guerrero and Julia Ortiz.
He is survived by: his sons, Benito Chavarria (Bitsy), Jerry Chavarria (Debbie) and Joe Edward "Chista" Chavarria. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
