He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Brooks and Cora Lee Brooks (Bagby); and his brothers, Vernon and Elton. He is survived by: his daughter Peggy Barr (Jim) of Bedford; his granddaughter Autumn of Austin; his daughter Stephanie DeWitt (John) of San Angelo; his grandchild Mallory of Lubbock; his son Robert Larry Carothers; and his devoted Oreo. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, cherished lifelong friends.
