She was predeceased by: her father James William Lloyd Shires; her spouse Thade Alan Loper, Jr.; her daughter Elizabeth Ogden; and her sister Emma Holt. She is survived by: her children, Cyndy Taliaferro, Melanie Whitlow, Stephanie Gipson (Broderick) and Sheila Floyd (William); and her siblings, Melvin Shires (Mara), James Shires (Emma) and Winnie Hopkins (Ron). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
