He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Jackson and Ella Ivey Dye Raines; his wife Lola Ann Hightower; his daughter Melissa Gail Raines; and his siblings, Islaree Bumgardner, Zelma Lee Winters, Othel Warner, Delbert Raines, Roy McBrayer, Ruth Sowell and Bernice Lemieux.

He is survived by: his daughters, Teresa Dixon (Ted) of Beckville and Angela Raines (Mike Sheedy) of East Mountain; his brothers, Ewel Raines (Beverly) of Carthage, Luel Raines of Carthage and Kenneth Raines of Beckville; and his grandchildren, Jodie Dixon, Christopher Baldobino (Meagan), Tad Dixon (Angela), Amanda Youngblood (Justin) and Brandi Barr (Matt). He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
