He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Thompson and Frankie Thompson; his son Quinton Dale; and his siblings, Willie, Doris, Lenora and Betty Sue.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Thompson; his children, Sam Thompson Jr. (Lynette), Henry Thompson (Catherine) and Liza Whittington (Darrell); and his grandchildren, Crystal, Quinton, Stedman, Henry, Jillian, Shelby, Hunter and Keely. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and close friends.
