He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Thanom Smith; his children, Hazel Smith, Lucy Smith Oakley, Diane August, Myra August, Kenneth Ray Smith, McKinnley "Mack" August, III and James Wilson; and his niece Louise Barlow Hatchet.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Calvary Mortuary (1225 S 7th St, Beaumont, TX 77701). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Calvary Mortuary Chapel (1225 S 7th St, Beaumont, TX 77701). An entombment was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at the Live Oak Memorial Park (12563 W Port Arthur Rd, Beaumont, TX 77705).
