He was predeceased by: his father Lyle E. Dawson; his stepson William "Bo" Buckley; and his grandson Colton Rhodes. He is survived by: his wife Mary "Christie" Dawson (Maloney); his stepdaughter Whitney Buckley; his grandson Sebastian Allen of White Oak, WV; his mother Susan Ross (Bailey) of Wichita, KS; his stepmother Barbara Dawson (Snedden) of Texas City, TX; and his sisters, Danalee Ogg of Towanda, IL, Michelle Melton (Melton) of Paris, TX, Misty Cunningham (Melton) of Dickinson, TX, Chandra Remmert (Melton) of Dickinson, TX and Elizabeth "Beth" Bouslog (Ross) of Wichita, KS. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
