He was predeceased by: his brother James Lucian Hughes; his uncles, Henry Hughes and Barry Hughes; his parents-in-law, Thomas Fisher and Beatrice Odom; and his sister-in-law Barbara Odom Allen.
He is survived by: his wife Scharlotte Odom Hughes; his sons, Lee Hughes of Baytown and Charles Hughes (Renee) of Florida; his wife Jenny of California; his daughter Renee Hall Smith (Jimmy) of Webster; his grandchildren, Diana Calles Rodriguez (Richard) of Baytown, Daniel Calles (Megan DelaRosa) of California, David Calles, Marine Corps of Okinawa, Japan, Austin, Tyler Hughes of Florida, Cheyanne Hughes of Baytown, Zachary Hall, Mason Hall of California, Evan, Emily, Landon, Lawson Hall of California, Elissa, Dylan, Garret and Matthew Stamper of Florida; his great grandchildren, Isabella Marie Garcia, Samuel J. Rodriguez of Baytown, Daniel Antonio Calles, Jr. and Mia Beatrice Calles of California; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Hughes of Virginia, Denise Odom, Victor Boiles of League City and Glen Odom (Suzanne) of Baytown; his nephew Rodney Evans; and also, William Yancy Hall (Angela) of California, Chris Stamper (Jessica) of Florida, Patricia McCord (Clyde) of Virginia and Shane Perez.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances in memory of Sam Hughes be made to the building fund at Fisher Road Baptist Church, 8610 Fisher Rd., Baytown, TX 77523.
