He was predeceased by: his parents, O. M. Smith and Evalyn Smith; his daughter Lori Smith Zirkel; his grandson Riley Brennan; and his daughter-in-law Lisa Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Molly Smith; his children, Norman Karl Smith II (Erin), Erich Smith (Cynthia), Nancy Brennan (Tim), Andrew Smith (Asli), Anna Tally (Jack) and David Smith (Cintia); his grandchildren, Danielle, Zachary, Norman Karl III (Myia), Matthew, Nathan, Jennifer, William (Vickie), Jason (Kristina), Andrew, Marian, Alexandria, Tyler, Kristina, Henry, Hannah, George, Klara, Jillian, Ian, Nicholas and Samuel; his great grandchildren, Wyatt, Liam, Holland, Brinley, Clayton and Avery; his brother Donald; and his sister-in-law Peg.
