He was predeceased by: his parents, Omie Belle Dykes-Andrews and Malcolm L. Andrews; his siblings, Talmadge Andrews (Billie Mae) of Kentwood, LA and Mary E. Andrews of Hammond, LA; his son Mark D. Andrews; and his nephew Dr. Reginald Sanders.
He is survived by: his children, John H. Andrews Jr. (Roselyn) of Garden Ridge, TX, Dr. Quentin T. Andrews (Maureen) of Katy, TX, Scott C. Andrews (Aya) of Panama, Carolyn Urban (Michael) of Houston and Ginger Gelke (Rick) of New York, NY; his grandchildren, Warren Andrews, Judith Andrews, Jonathan Andrews, Kristin Staggers, Ann Andrews, Brad Urban, Andrew Urban, Ellie Gelke, Keats Andrews and Witt Andrews; and his nieces and nephews, Dr. Charles Sanders, Dr. Sherri Sanders, Bruce Sanders, Sharon Andrews and Craig Andrews.
His rotating internship was at Charity Hospital.
