He was predeceased by: his parents, Rogers James Tanner and Tresser Imone Goodwin; and his brothers, E. D. Collins, Herbert Tanner and Welton Tanner.
He is survived by: his wife Ruby Pearl Tanner; his children, Justin Rogers Tanner (Christy) of Splendora, TX, Anita Hall of Daisetta, TX, Debbie Alfaro (Antonio) of Houston, TX, Wendy Tanner (Steven Litwiller) of Batson, TX and Mollie Carethers "Sunshine" of Dayton, TX; and his siblings, Lewis Tanner of Hardin, TX, Jerry Tanner (Elizabeth) of Batson, Irene Tompkins (Leon), Doris Wells (Jimmy) of Humble, TX, Juanita Hinson of Saratoga, TX and Joyce Miller of Batson, TX. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
