With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Arthur Gay Whitehead (Baytown, Texas), born in Minden, Texas, who passed away on September 29, 2018 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He is survived by: his parents, Arthur Whitehead and Florence Rousseau Whitehead.
Arthur's wife, Mary, died in 1995, after which he remarried in 2000 to Doris June "Judy McNulty. Arthur and Judy enjoyed family, their church, mutual friends, and traveling. Arthur loved volunteering with the American Red Cross, mentoring programs in local schools, and working in the Cedar Bayou Baptist Church Food Pantry. He also enjoyed a long time hobby of treasure hunting with a metal detector and writing of life experiences in short stories and humorous quips. Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Florence Whitehead, wives, Mary Blair Whitehead and Doris June McNulty Whitehead, and brother, Edell Whitehead. He is survived by his son, Donald Gay Whitehead and wife, Karen of Mohall, ND, step-daughter, Cynthia McNulty Lucia and husband, Michael of Orange, TX, stepson James Rickey McNulty and wife Carolyn of Baytown, TX, brothers Roger Whitehead and Worth (Buzzy) Whitehead and wife Inell, sister Marilyn Smith all of Henderson, TX, sister Nelwyn Hughes and husband Harry of Kirvin, TX. Also he is survived by his grandchildren Jason, Jordan, and Derrick Whitehead, step grandchildren Michael Lucia III and Angela Lucia Howeth, Dariel Bohm and Samara Morgan, great grandchildren, Thomas, Lily and Jace Whitehead and several step-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Navarre Funeral Home, Baytown, Texas with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
