He was predeceased by: his parents, George William and Lola Spencer Townsend; his son Terry Warren Townsend; his sister Bonnie Townsend Gosling; and his brother-in-law J. C. Glover.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Knapik Townsend; his children, William Allen Townsend Jr. (Donita) and Cristyn Townsend Hallmark (Steve Monk); his stepdaughter Heather Jamison Neale (J. B.); his mother-in-law Joyce Bunk Knapik; his sister Maxine Townsend Glover; and his grandchildren, Ashley Townsend, Brittney Townsend, Hatchet Hallmark, Riley Neale, Bronwyn Neale and Chloe Neale. He is also survived by five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
